The Buzz About Google Me
Are we ready for another social network?
We must be, the brain trusts at Google appear to have made it a high priority project at headquarters in Mountain View CA.
Let’s hope that Google does this right so that online businesses have another venue to market in at lower costs.
Kevin Rose, the CEO of Digg did a tweet that Google was developing a social network platform to compete against Facebook. Techcrunch posted the article which noted that the comment has been taken down from Twitter. After some digging, no pun intended, Techcrunch validated the story via former Facebook CTO Adam D’Angelo.
It appears that they are trying to upgrade their version of Google Buzz , which would be called Google Me. I hope they make a quality product to compete with Facebook to help drive down the prices for PPC.
While everyone is chasing dollars online, the competition between social and search is becoming blurred. The great news for small businesses and publishers is that with all of this competition, it should lower the costs to advertise at targeted markets.
When everyone focused on Google’s 65% share of the search market, the smart one’s gravitated towards the lower costs at Yahoo and Bing for better ROI numbers. Now that Facebook has more visitors than Google, hopefully we can get the same results on social networks.
